President's message about International Students Grant (ISG)

Dear all,
Please refer the following message on the Internationa Students Grant (ISG) from the President of the ARRCN. If possible, please use the official abstract form (MS Word or PDF). However, the application for ISG with an abstract does not indicate the automatic submission of abstract to the organizing committee. Please note that the ISG applications is a DIFFERENT process from the registration or abstract submission process.

Dear members of ARRCN;

The ARRCN 7th Symposium will be held 13 -16 January 2012 in South Korea!

The theme of the Symposium is "Raptor Conservation and Migration in Asia" and special Plenary Lectures related to Raptor Migration and Raptor Conservation are scheduled. The goal of the Symposium is to promote the research of Raptor Migration throughout Asia and activities of Raptor Conservation in Asia.

The Organizing Committee in Korea and the ARRCN secretariat are hoping that many of our ARRCN members will join and make presentations about their own activities.The ARRCN secretariat is establishing the "International Students Grant" to provide travel fees for students who have been keen on raptor research and conservation in each Asian country. Students who will receive this grant should make their own presentations on raptor research or conservation activities during the Symposium. The "Travel fee" means the round-trip discount airline ticket fee from your country to Korea. The registration fee and accommodation fee including food during the Symposium are not provided.

If you want to apply to the "ISG", please send me (t-yamaza@mx.biwa.ne.jp) an abstract of your presentation by 31 October. Applicants will be notified of results by the middle of November by the ARRCN secretariat. The abstract form should follow the format indicated in the second
announcement as attached files. Since the fund of "ISG" is very limited due to the disaster and severe economic situation, ARRCN can support only a few students. Therefore, I hope that you will do your best to locate other funds for getting travel fees to join this ARRCN 7th Symposium in South Korea.

12 October 2011
President of ARRCN
Toru Yamazaki
